Australian Youth Orchestra Presents Free Chamber Music Concerts at Hume Conservatorium, Goulburn

8 August, 2024 - The Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) has announced two free chamber music concerts to be performed by the AYO Chamber Players at the Hume Conservatorium in Goulburn during the upcoming school holidays. These concerts offer a unique opportunity to experience the finest young musicians in Australia performing a diverse range of repertoire, including works by Australian composers.

The AYO Chamber Players will be mentored by the award-winning Orava Quartet, described by Limelight magazine as "the most exciting young quartet on the block". Throughout the week-long program, these accomplished musicians will guide the AYO through rehearsals, masterclasses, and professional development, culminating in the public concert events.

In a statement, an AYO representative expressed, "This program showcases the nuances of communication, expression, and performance that chamber music has to offer. From wind quintets to brass ensembles, piano trios to string quartets, audiences will get up close and personal with the instruments of the orchestra."

The concerts will feature works by renowned composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn, and Shostakovich, alongside contemporary pieces by Australian composers Ross Edwards, Dulcie Holland, and Jessica Meyer.
