Van Diemen's Band Presents: pataway/Burnie Lunchbox Concerts Summer 2024

lutruwita/Tasmania, October 2024 - Van Diemen's Band is delighted to announce the return of its immensely popular Lunchbox Concerts to pataway/Burnie for a second season in 2024. Curated by VDB's artistic director, Julia Fredersdorff, these concerts showcase some of Tasmania's finest musical talent alongside interstate and international guests.

The series will run from November 7 to December 5, 2024, at the Burnie Arts Centre, offering a tempting menu of diverse short-form concerts during the lunch break.

Concert Schedule:

  1. Thursday, November 7 - Martin Gester & Aline Zylberajch: Two of France's leading historical keyboard players present a 17th Century double-keyboard extravaganza.

  2. Thursday, November 14 - Alexey Yemtsov: Ukraine-born, lutruwita/Tasmania-based pianist performs works by Chopin, Scriabin, and Schubert.

  3. Thursday, November 21 - Maria Cleary & Julia Fredersdorff: An international collaboration featuring VDB's new Zampieri triple harp.

  4. Thursday, November 28 - Compass Brass: A rousing brass quintet program including works by Bach, Rossini, Gershwin, and Jones.

  5. Thursday, December 5 - Deck The Halls: A festive program of Christmas favorites from around the world.

These concerts offer an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle and step into an oasis of calm, listening to beautiful music in a casual and welcoming setting.
