Van Diemen's Band Presents: Launceston Lunchbox Concerts Summer 2024

lutruwita/Tasmania, October 2024 - Van Diemen's Band is excited to announce the return of its hugely popular Lunchbox Concert Series to Launceston for Summer 2024. Curated by VDB's Artistic Director, Julia Fredersdorff, these concerts go "beyond the Band" to showcase a rich variety of artists, genres, and styles - all for the price of a sandwich.

The series will run from November 6 to November 27, 2024, at various venues in Launceston, offering a tempting menu of diverse short-form concerts during the lunch break.

Concert Schedule:

  1. Wednesday, November 6 - Martin Gester & Aline Zylberajch: Two of France's leading historical keyboard players present a 17th-century double-keyboard extravaganza at Holy Trinity Church.

  2. Wednesday, November 13 - Alexey Yemtsov: Ukraine-born, lutruwita/Tasmania-based pianist performs works by Chopin, Scriabin, and Schubert at the Princess Theatre.

  3. Wednesday, November 20 - Maria Cleary & Julia Fredersdorff: An international collaboration featuring VDB's new Zampieri triple harp at the Princess Theatre.

  4. Wednesday, November 27 - Compass Brass: A rousing brass quintet program including works by Bach, Rossini, Gershwin, and Jones at the Princess Theatre.

"I can't believe I can fit a world-class experience like this into the middle of my day for $10. It's wild. A transporting, beautiful interlude that takes me out of the noise and into the music. Thank you," says an audience member from a previous series.

  • Time: All concerts start at 1:05 PM and end at 1:50 PM
