Van Diemen's Band Presents "Deck the Halls" - A Festive Celebration Across Tasmania

Van Diemen's Band concludes its spectacular 2024 season with "Deck the Halls," a joyous celebration of Christmas music from around the world. This special series of evening performances brings VDB's signature baroque brilliance to beloved carols and newly discovered seasonal gems across three Tasmanian locations, featuring the glorious sound of VDB's new Zampieri triple harp.

In Latrobe and Launceston, the performances feature a special collaboration with Crescendo Youth Choirs and featured vocalist Quin Thomson. Crescendo, a non-profit initiative of the Tasmanian Education Department, brings together young voices aged 8 to 18 from schools across the greater Devonport region. Known for their versatile repertoire and strong support of Australian musicians and choral composers, these talented young performers will add their voices to beloved carols, including "O Come All Ye Faithful," "Silent Night," and, of course, "Deck the Halls!"

The nipaluna/Hobart evening performance offers a unique participatory experience, inviting audience members to join in a festive singalong, creating a memorable communal musical celebration. The orchestra's sound will be enriched by the inclusion of VDB's recently acquired Zampieri triple harp, adding an extra layer of baroque authenticity to these seasonal favourites.

VDB's Artistic Director Julia Fredersdorff said, "Deck the Halls represents everything we love about bringing music to our community. It's a perfect blend of baroque artistry, community participation, and the joy of seasonal celebration."

MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 31 March 2025 A statement from Jayson Gillham on resolution with Sophie Galaise and ongoing case against MSO I acknowledge the statement made by Sophie Galaise regarding the events surrounding the cancellation of my performance with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra on 15 August 2024 . I appreciate that Ms Galaise has expressed regret for the circumstances that led to the cancellation and that she has accepted that I believe I was entitled to speak as I did during my recital on 11 August 2024.
