Van Diemen’s Band’s Hugely Popular Lunchbox Concerts Return to Launceston

Bite-sized concerts for the price of a sandwich

Van Diemen’s Band’s much-loved Lunchbox Concert Series is back in Launceston this April, offering a delectable menu of short-form performances featuring some of Tasmania’s finest musicians alongside outstanding interstate and international guests. Held weekly at lunchtime, these intimate concerts provide a moment of escape from the daily grind—delivering world-class music for just $10.

Curated by Van Diemen’s Band’s Artistic Director, Julia Fredersdorff, the series showcases an eclectic mix of artists and styles, going beyond the Band’s signature Baroque roots. From meditative chamber-folk and brilliant baroque to thundering piano and virtuosic percussion, each performance is designed to be an oasis of beautiful music in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

“Music has the power to transform a moment, and these concerts are all about creating a space where people can take a break, enjoy something truly special, and return to their day feeling enriched,” says Fredersdorff. “We love bringing these performances to Launceston and offering access to incredible artists at such an accessible price.”
